Sweet Nothings by Trisha Ashley

****4 stars
I don't know what it is that pulls me in but I love Trisha Ashley's books. Mind you there is a total lifestyle difference in her books but after reading one you will be hooked. As I am an American, many of the recipes and dishes she describes as well as way of life are very different, but it doesn't stop me from keeping up. In Sweet Nothings, Ashley whips of a delightful selection of characters, with the main character, which you will take a shine to, and be amused by some of the secondary ones. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but will definitely pull you into a warm cosy place you want to stay.

Book Jacket Summary:
Lizzie is cooking up a storm of comfort in the village of Middlemoss, enfolded in the last acres of an ancient forest, now that her her charming but quick-tempered husband, Tom, is turning increasingly unpredictable. There are some things even a rich chocolate souffle can't put right, and she realizes she must soon end her marriage and leave Perseverance Cottage.
But fate takes a hand when Tom is found dead. In the aftermath Lizzie has to cope with his quarreling mistresses and devious friends. And the annual Middlemoss Mystery Play needs a new Lazarus.
When her best friend, Anne develops a crush on Rob Rafferty, the charismatic actor,it turns out that he is interested in Lizzie. But she is distracted by the growing rivalry between herself and cookery writer Nick Pharamond. If Lizzie is sugar and spice, Nick is brimstone and treacle.
